I was watching a Pop-Up Video marathon on VH1 Classic this weekend, which was an exciting event, first of all. I love that show. I don't watch music videos very often, but when I do, I choose to watch them with pop-ups of interesting facts. (As an aside, do they even show music videos on TV much anymore? Probably not. It's all stupid reality TV shows.) Anyway, as I was watching one of the videos, I found an interesting similarity between it and another piece of pop culture.
During the song "7" by Prince and the New Power Generation, there was a pop up that indicated that the video's plot (or maybe the song's meaning) was that he had to slay seven people to get to his love. I really wish the video was still available online, as I would have posted the exact screen shot. Instead, here's a picture of the single cover:

| That's it, I'm naming my firstborn Seven. |
After seeing this fact pop up on screen, I was reminded of another story of love that involved the slaying of seven...

| At what point is Michael Cera going to be too old to play the awkward kid? |
That's right, Scott Pilgrim and his fight again the Seven Evil Exes. I can't quite speak to the graphic novels, as I have never actually read them, but the plot of the movie kind of mirrors some of the song lyrics:
All seven and we'll watch them fall
They stand in the way of love
And we will smoke them all
With an intellect and a savoir-faire
No one in the whole universe
Will ever compare
I am yours now and you are mine
And together we'll love through
All space and time, so don't cry
One day all seven will die
An interesting coincidence, I think.
Sounds like Hercules, too! Although Hercules had a bunch of really dumb tasks, like "capture this animal" and "steal the girdle of a really hot chick."
